Stone, cementitious mortars, brick and concrete are porous materials that absorb water and, if not protected, enable its migration through construction into interior. Water causes reinforcement corrosion what can jeopardize construction. On inside surfaces water damages mortar and paint while on outside surfaces causes appearance of stains, lichen and moss. Water migration through construction causes fungus formation, cools walls what requires intensive heating. In order to avoid negative effects of water infiltration into construction porous surfaces have to be impregnated with coating.
Following historical evolution of impregnating coatings first appeared coatings on silicone base. Shortage of silicon based coating reflects in film forming on treated surface what changes aesthetic appearance. Silicon based coatings don’t have UV stability what leads to colour change and crumbling.

Last generation of impregnations is formed on fluorine, silane and siloxane base. Those coatings protect not only from water but also have oleofobic characteristics. They are UV stable and they protect surfaces from oils, grease and air pollutants like industrial and exhaust gases, acid rain.
